Athletes will engage in strength & conditioning stations including weight lifting. This training can prepare the athlete for a future in Para Powerlifting as well as an additional day to maintain strength and conditioning training! Para Powerlifting is open to male and female athletes with physical impairments. The bench press is the sport’s single discipline. Competitors must lower the bar to the chest, hold it motionless on the chest and then press it upwards to arms length with locked elbows. Athletes are given three attempts and the winner is the athlete who lifts the highest number of kilograms. DASA programming is geared towards individuals with Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Amputee, Visual Impairment, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury, or an Orthopedic diagnosis. DASA works with cognitively age-appropriate individuals 5 years of age and older, including military veterans and injured first responders, living with permanent physical disabilities who have difficulty participating in sports with their non-disabled peers.
